Early Days

Prior to squash, my interest in my teens and twenties was mainly football – playing for whatever team I could into from 16 onwards – one of my uncles ran the local village South Hiendley team – in a local practice trial session – I thought – 5 goals was not enough to get me into the team. But I was a fanatic. Now the interest is negligible.

I was 24 and had moved to my first job outside Yorkshire and was persuaded to play for the Meaford Power Station Cricket team. This set off my cricket career. Having had limited opportunities prior to this and leaving school.

There was not much publicity in those days but the clips below are the memories from some of my early football and cricket careers followed by early squash sucesses after the age of 45
